Whole Wheat Radio

Apparently, I've been getting a bit of radio play on the Alaskan internet radio station Whole Wheat Radio. It seems like a very comfy place to hang out (very interactive), they're playlists are excellent, and they (cough) allow requests.

So, to thank them for giving a chance to a folkster from South Carolina, I'd like to repay them by sending a little traffic (and hopefully some user sign-ups) their way. The interface is a little hard to get used to, but once you do it's smooth sailing. So go check it out, listen, and say hello.

I came across this just the other day after seeing it linked on another site. The *instant* I launched the station the first thing I heard, over some awful rendition of what I think was Happy Birthday, was, "Shannon Campbell says this sucks."

• Scott Andrew LePera & I raised almost $1200 for the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation by staying up for 24 hours straight as part of the 2003 Blogathon. We cowrote and recorded two original songs, "Southdown" and "Nothing New," and blogged all about it on the Pet Rock Star^s blog. Both songs are licensed under a Creative Commons deed. (We also won the 2003 Best Music Project, which is really just icing on the cake considering how fun this whole experience was.)

• Joi Ito asked me to write a song for Ben & Mena Trott (of Moveable Type fame) for their birthdays in September. I gladly accepted, and the result is "You Own Dot Org," a somehow silly and somewhat serious song about their lives, taken mostly from their weblog archives.

• Request my music almost any time you'd like at Whole Wheat Radio. WWR is run by Jim Kloss and Esther Golton from a 12x12 cabin in Talketna, Alaska, and they're two of my most favoritest people in the whole world.
