Channel Four, which I gather is some sort of UK HBO, launched some brilliant ads for the "new" season of Six Feet Under back in May, and by now, said ads have generated over 100 complaints from big, fat wussies. (Is this lag in programming schedules between continents why it takes so long for season of pop shows to be released on DVD, by the way?)
Personally, I think the ads are brilliant. A little creepy, yeah, but what's SFU if it ain't creepy? The ads even point viewers to an official Luxury to Die For site (requires Flash) with just enough dead people and thinly veiled sarcasm to make you think you stepped into a Stephen King novella.
If you have seen all three seasons and want a walk down memory lane, Television Without Pity's episode recaps are some of the funniest shit ever. Observe:
Nate paces around out there, enduring yet another angry Lisa flashback (Fk = 17), and quite frankly, I don't even know where to begin describing his hair at this point. If you added up all times Austin Powers has ever said the word "shag," it still wouldn't be shaggy enough to describe the shagadelic shaggy shag carpet that's transformed the Rectangle Head into something more closely resembling an Amazon rain forest than an actual human cranium. Perhaps sensing the inevitable encroachment of land developers and clear-cutting cattle ranchers, Nate angrily grinds out his cigarette and goes running off into the night. You know, because cigarettes totally make people want to engage in strenuous aerobic activity. Cough. Hack. Heave.
Also, the domain sixfeetunder.com belongs not to the show, or to the band (Chris Barnes has dreadlocks? What the fuck is this world coming to?), but to a California tattoo parlor. Word up.
