Late, and I should be sleeping. Work tomorrow, but I'm a little wound up from a great gig tonight and the knowledge that I'll be in North Carolina in a few days. The next month should make for some very interesting entries, I must say.
There was a great crowd of folks at Malley's tonight, one table in particular who not only convinced me to play "Bobby McGee," which I never do, but picked up on the correct Southern pronounciation of "goddamn" (which would be got-damn) in only a few short lessons. There was also a very lively discussion of the merits of "y'all," "youse," and "you'ns" followed by an "Ode To..." - something I haven't done in quite some time. These odes are usually preceded by copious amounts of liquor and involve lots of profanity. This particular ditty was entitled "Ode to Mike Tyson," and contained lines like:
Dear Mike Tyson, I think you're an idiot
you should've tried harder to please Robin Givens
she's truly a hottie and was in that great movie
but I guess that's what happens when you beat up on womens
Hey, it's off the cuff. You try freestylin' an ode to Mike Tyson. Maybe one day when I'm feeling gracious I'll upload the "Ode to Tara Reid" that happened to be caught on tape at a party one night. Sung to the tune of "Landslide." Now that's a winner.
Oh Shannon you must upload the Ode to Tara Reid and Tom's debut live recording.
